Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at Cattolica's SMEA (Alta Scuola in Economia Agro-alimentare) & Wageningen University (WU)

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore's Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at SMEA (Alta Scuola in Economia Agro-alimentare) gives participants of the Master of Science in Agricultural and Food Economics the opportunity to undertake the second year of their course at Wageningen University, Netherlands and receive both degrees:

  • Master of Science in Agricultural and Food Economics at Università Cattolica
  • Biennial Master in Management, Economics and Consumer Studies (MME) at Wageningen University


Students will spend their second year at WU. Students will depart during the second half of August of the academic year 2019/20.

Entry Requirements

The number of students entering the program is limited to three and they are required to:

  • Have an average mark of at least 24/30 
  • English language proficiency (TOEFL overall score of at least 92 (with a minimum sub-score of 23 for speaking) or IELTS overall grade 6.5 (with a minimum sub-score of 6.0 for speaking) dated not later than March 31, 2019)

How to apply

Students in the first year of the M.Sc. in Agricultural and Food Economics that are interested in the Double Degree Program have to apply through the online application and pay the application fee of 35 euros by March 31, 2019.

Selection process

A board appointed by the Faculty will select the students based on merit and the basis of the study curriculum. The list of admitted students will be based on:

  • The average mark (weight 45%)
  • CFU reached (weight 45%)
  • Academic motivation (weight 10%)

Students will be invited before March 15 for a motivational interview with the appointed board.

Tuition Fee

For EU students the Double Degree doesn't require additional fees to the normal tuition at UCSC throughout their first year of stay at Wageningen Univeristy. An extra tuition fee will be charged on the 3rd term, according to its final length.
Expenses for insurance, travel, and living costs in the host country will be the responsibility of the participating student.
If available, students can apply for a scholarship from LLP Erasmus.

Different and higher fees will be applied to Non-EU students on their three-term stay following University of Wageningen regulation (for more information contact the exchange student coordinator in Cremona).
